Backyard Bunnies and Birds in Spring
I am sitting at my computer looking out into my backyard. I live on the edge of a town with farms surrounding it. One of the things that we still get are wild Bunnies. I saw two this morning hopping around as well as Robins, Sparrows, Doves and Grackles. Now some of the people enjoy the Bunnies but others hate them because they like to eat their beautiful flowers. I planted Pansies one year and they supplied a good meal for the Bunnies. Many people have Perennials and the Bunnies like them too. We don't have a lot of flowers but some nice Rose Bushes and they don't bother them. The Bunnies mostly go across my backyard to get the flowers at my two neighbors who have a lot of Perennials. I enjoy looking at the Bunnies but sure hope they don't overtake us. I have heard that some have eliminated them but don't know for sure. My cat loves to look at them and they are so tame they will walk right in front of her. If she is out on the loose she will take off after them but has never caught one. She loves to growl at the Robins from the window as they hop around the lawn. Our back neighbor just returned from Fla. and he will be putting up his birdhouse that little Swallows love to nest in. They do not like cats and will cause quite a ruckus if they see one. It has only been warm for about a week and our grass almost needs cutting. I live near Lake Erie and we get a lot of moisture here but it is cool so trees are just starting to bud. A bit north of here the flowering bushes are starting to bloom. It is so nice to see.
