Big Beautiful Violets
I usually have a nice collection of various colored Violets on a table near my east window. You could have them too. When you buy flowers at stores they need to be potted into better soil. Go and buy some African Violet Soil. It is not too expensive and has the proper nutrients for your plants. If you want them to be nice big plants you need to put them into larger pots. You can even put more than one into the pot if it is large enough and that also is impressive. So go ahead and put your new plants and soil into the larger pots. I put some stones in the bottom for drainage. Set in a sunny east or west window if possible. Watering is done by putting the water out at least a day ahead to remove the Chlorine, etc. and make it be room temperature. I water once a week on a certain day using a small watering can. I count to four and that seems to be the right amount of water. I have never found any problem with getting it on leaves but have read not to do this. Don't over water as it will be the end of your plants. The same day I water I have a small scissor and cut off any dead flowers and leaves gently. Don't pull off the flowers or the whole stem goes and so do the buds that are coming up. Now if you want more Violets cut the leaves off long. Just have a glass with some water in it and put the leaf in there. Within a short time you will see roots on it. Now you can start the process over again with your own new plants. Sometimes I put about four little ones into a large pot. You can always move them when they get bigger.
