Camping, Lake Erie, Ontario, Wheatly Prov. Pk. Wheatly Provincial Park is just ten kilometers east of Point Pelee which is noted for bird migration sighting. There is only group camping at Pelee, so birders can camp at Wheatly and visit Point Pelee or see many of the same birds here. This is another park I have not visited so check the links to get more information. It is right on Lake Erie so there should be good swimming, birding, fishing, and the Town of Wheatly is nearby. I have been there and seen fishing tugs and marinas and shopping areas. This is the park closest to the west end of Lake Erie and not far from Windsor and U.S. border. You might want to take a side trip to Jack Miner's Bird Sancuary where many Canada Geese land and other birds can be seen From nearby Leamington you can take a Ferry to Pelee Island which is a great tourist destination. Visiting Point Pelee is a lovely drive nearby and there is an interpretive center and you can see the very tip of the most southern point of Canada too.
