A cat's hearing capability is five times greater than that of a human. However, at about 5 years of age, this lessens somewhat. A cat can rotate its ears 180 degrees and can locate the source of a sound ten times faster than the most capable watchdog.
A cat has 32 muscles in each ear. Cats can see an ant at a distance of six meters(!). While looking straight ahead they can also see sideways in an angle of 45 degrees, but only 2-dimensional. In pitch-dark- ness their eyes become more like a kind of ears: the pupils pick up acoustic vibrations. Cats have over one hundred vocal sounds. Dogs only have about 10. A cat can not see directly under its nose. This is why it sometimes can not quickly find treats thrown on the floor. Kneading you is a sign of affection. Biting when being petted means your cat doesn't want to be petted anymore. Your cat is a nocturnal creature and loves to roam around at night. A group of grown cats is called a "clowder," while a group of kittens is a A "Kindle". If you need help with a pet problem or wish to help the homeless or maltreated animals with money or adoption you can contact your local spca.
I often go and visit the cats and talk to them. They get lonesome and really like the company. There are other jobs one can do there too.
