Defeat Shyness Shyness MUST be beaten if a person is going to succeed in life. No matter how much education someone gets they may have a difficult time in obtaining a job. They will be so nervous at a job interview they will fail even though they may be the best qualified candidate. Shyness can be a terrible fear of going forward and doing things others find easy. It my be in talking to someone of the opposite gender. It could be a problem making simple phone calls. It may be just in talking to others. It has also been found now that this could be a genetic problem and I have seen it run in families. The main way to face this problem is to do the things a person is afraid to do. Of course, this is not easy to do. If you have a child that is afraid to do things and holds back you should try to get them involved with other people in things they enjoy. Even then it is something that is lifelong and when someone is feeling unsuccessful or down it may flare up again. I hope you can help someone who has shyness to come forward and get out of the shell that is very painful to them. Shirley Manion
