Friday The 13th, Port Dover, Ont., Canada
Port Dover will have Motorcycles visiting from everywhere on Friday the thirteenth of June. This year there is only one but any time that the 13th falls on a Friday bikers of all sorts head for Lake Erie at Port Dover, Ont. Even the local residents need a pass to enter the village because of the huge crowds. Some enjoy it and some don't, but because they love to go there most bikers want to have a fun time and want to be very well behaved. I have added some pages at the bottom where you can see the event from other years. I don't have to go to see the bikes as they will be coming through my town all weekend on their way to and from the event. One of their favourite trips is along Lake Erie shoreline and they like to stop at Port Burwell and Port Rowan and other little places for refreshments and meals. I have never even ridden on a motorcycle but my Dad had nine of them before he was married and loved to stop and look at them if they were parked somewhere. He used to tell the young fellows about his old Indian, etc. Of course, Mom came along and it really wasn't her thing. Many of the riders are elderly people that have very expensive bikes and many professionals enjoy touring on them too. And, of course, there are various groups too. It is a real variety of people who will be gathering at Port Dover this weekend. The highlight this year is to set a world record for the most at a gathering.
