Hummingbirds
I saw my first Hummingbird today here on the north shore of Lake Erie. I must get busy and put my feeders out. I have them right outside my computer area window so I can watch them as I work. They like to get food from any type of cone-shaped flowers. One of their favorites is Fuchsia that you buy in hanging baskets. They also like Honeysuckle. To make the food for the feeders you put one part sugar to four parts water. You can heat the mixture to dissolve the sugar. It is not necessary to add red color as this is not good for them. This should be changed about once a week so don't add too much at one time, just keep the extra in the fridge. Be sure to clean the feeders in between as they do get dirty. Some feeders are red in color or have red or yellow flowers on them. These are the color of flowers they really like. I have one that suctions on my window and they come right up there. Hanging some flowers or growing some by the feeder will lure them to the feeder. Hummingbirds are so nice to watch and sometimes they will even buzz around your head when you are outside.
