January Is Shape Up Time
After the festive eating season most of us want or need to get back in shape and get rid of some weight. I come from a family of big people so we have always been weight concious. My Mom was always trying a new diet and they work at the time, but once a person goes off them they tend to gain again. Exercise combined with better food choices seems to be the answer. If you have room it helps to have a machine that you can hop on and tighten up the muscles. Walking for about 30 minutes daily is a great health and fitness idea for so many aspects. Swimming will do the same thing and it soothes the muscles at the same time without the pain. Stretching before and after is good for muscle tone too. Climbing stairs burns calories and is a strengthener. After a week or so you will be able to run up them. The main thing with food is to eat less and more fruits and veggies instead of pastries and sweets. You acquire a taste for anything you eat frequently. Start cutting out night eating and set a time like supper to end the daily eating. Make it a fruit if you really have to snack. Water can replace food, and many times you are thirsty and not hungry. I don't like water, but am trying to get a desire for it as I hope you will. Good Luck with your battle. Shirl |
