TV Info
We never had a television until I was sixteen. We entertained ourselves outdoors and at night we listened to those fabulous old shows on the radio. Some were The Creaking Door, Green Hornet, Jack Benny, Red Skelton, Amos and Andy, When I was about ten we would go downtown and there was a store that sold TV's and had them in the window. On Friday nights a group of men would gather outside and watch the Boxing Matches through the window. One of our friends fixed radios so he got a TV and showed it to us. It was small with a roundish picture and black and white of course. I liked to go babysitting because most of those people had TV and I think this was why my marks dropped when I started High School. Of course, the kids were in bed and I could watch TV then. It was black and white but the shows were good. Some people bought a clear screen that went on the front with green pink and blue to make it look like color. There were a lot of comedies and variety shows like Ed Sullivan. They could sure use some stuff like that today. When colored TV came in we were amazed at how beautiful it was and, of course, people have been hooked on it ever since.
